As a person who genuinely dreads the dentist, I'm so thrilled to have found tend. The staff is great at easing anxiety, and didn't make me feel judged at all. Gorgeous, clean space, basically zero wait time, and the option to watch a show with noise cancelling headphones during the cleaning was absolutely amazing. thank you!
Because of my absolute hatred of the dentist, it had admittedly been a few years since I’d had a cleaning and they found a decent number of cavities they will have to fill but they were so nice and chill about the whole thing and didn’t make me feel embarrassed about the number of fillings I was going to need to get.
When I came in, the team was so gentle with my cleaning and I never felt judged. I didnt get flossed shamed and when it came time to review my teeth, the dentist took the time to show me my xrays, where my cavity was (no dentist has ever done this for me) which I really appreciated.

Kirk5 StarCan I say, I’ve been to a bunch of dental offices and the Tend location on Capitol Hill is the best place. I’m sure the other tend offices are amazing as well but this was the only location I’ve been too and the front desk, hygienists and dentists are so kind and considerate. They always ask if I feel any pain or ask if I’d like to turn the channel to any particular show I’d like to watch while I get my cleaning. The tools they use are top of line and I have never had any issues with them working with my health insurance. I have Delta Dental and I’ve never needed to do any extra work to resolve any coding issues like I had to do in Hawaii and some offices in the DMV. When coming to see my family after the holidays I literally scheduled an appointment to see them. I now only trust them to work on my teeth. I had prior issues in the past with dental offices not related to Tend on Maple Lawn where I found that they were doing unnecessary fillings and went to this office the first time and they showed me my X-ray and said I didn’t need the fillings.Saturday 4th January 2025
Samantha G5 StarThis was truly the best experience I had at a dental office. After all of the many years of dental work I received. The office manager Kim assured me that I was in good hands with her team and Dr. The reception area and office are exclusively high class and in impeccable condition. Chelsea was a doll as she greeted all guests with a little kit to freshen up. Nia was caring and attentive while assisting the doctor with all my concerns. Dr. G was amazing and addressed all my concerns. Her plan was reassuring, and I left feeling great about the next steps and can't wait for my next appointment. This is an AMAZING team. High-class and exceptionally caring team! You are in good hands here!Monday 4th November 2024
Spanky Dixon5 StarI loved my visit. Everyone was friendly and I could tell they all really care. I had mentioned that, before I came to them, I had brought my business somewhere else for major work. They congratulated me and embraced how I was able to take better care of my dental health. Damien was awesome. He really took care of me. Damien is very personable and he helped eased my anxiousness. Also the lady who took my x-rays was personable too. She worked with me efficiently. She was pretty funny as well. The Dr I met in the office was absolutely amazing. She was giving me tips, instructions, and stories about things that I could relate to. It was just great visit and I’ll definitely always be brining my business here at the 600 Pennsylvania Ave SE Washington, DC 20003 location. Thank you guys for the experience.Sunday 3rd November 2024
Erin Rowsey Hart2 StarI'm torn...My initial appointment to have a routine cleaning was wonderful. The space was clean and the staff were amazing. I was interested in Invisalign so I went ahead a booked a consultation. (Here's where is begins to get murky...)
The consultation went fine. They developed a treatment plan and shared it with me at the consult. They shared that my insurance would cover $2,750 of the $3,400 treatment. I thought, 'Great!' I wanted to think on it but ultimately decided to move forward. I called back to move forward. The person on the phone mistakenly booked another consult. I thought, 'Small mistake.' So I called back to make sure the appointment was the initial fitting appointment.
I arrive and the front desk staff review the out of pocket costs of $1,692; $1k more that previously discussed. She shared that my insurance can cover either 50% or $2,750 of the treatment cost (this was definitely not explained during the initial consult). She asked if I still wanted to proceed. Absolutely not! I didn't intend on shelling out an additional $1k and at this point would rather give another practice the money if they're making mistakes like this.
I'm not sure were the disconnect happened behind the scenes but it certainly rubbed me the wrong way considering I had to take off work for this appointment. I'm seriously considering cancelling my future appointments.Tuesday 5th November 2024
Tori Dema1 StarA few months ago, I was having a dental emergency with very bad tooth pain on one of my upper molars. I could not get an emergency appointment anywhere except Tend which should have been a red flag that they had so much availability. The dentist that looks at my tooth and took X-Rays said I needed a root canal and recommended I see a specialist that could not get me in for a couple of day. I have had an emergency root canal years ago when someone is in that much pain the dentist can perform the procedure, but I was informed that they don't do root canals. A little confusing to me as this is such a common dental procedure. Obviously, anyone that has had tooth pain understand how bad it can be and waiting a couple of days can be unbearable! I immediately took the X-Rays from Tend and brought them to my regular dentist who said they could fit me in the following day. Turns out, I DID NOT need a root canal at all. I have gone months now, and it has been fine.
I don't know if they were trying to scam me or if the dentists are simply not qualified......doesn't really matter. You will not actually receive quality dental care here and the nice aesthetics inside are just to cover up that fact and an excuse to charge a premium. I don't want a goodie bag, I want my teeth diagnosed properly and fixed properly.Wednesday 24th July 2024
